A man died Saturday afternoon after falling 60 to 80 feet from a cliff at Rock Point, according to the Burlington Police Department.
Authorities declined to identify the man until his family could be notified.
Just after 4 p.m., according to a press release issued Saturday by the Burlington police, a witness called 911 to report that the man had fallen from the cliffs above Lake Champlain. A boater in the area swam to the man to perform lifesaving measures but was unsuccessful.
Burlington police were unable to reach the man by foot and called for assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard.
Authorities said they did not suspect foul play.
